How to Find Viral Video Topics for Your Channel

In our previous emails, we talked about researching your niche and identifying your competitors. Now that you’ve got a list of competitors, it’s time to find video topics that are already proven to go viral.  

Here’s a simple step-by-step guide to help you:  

Make sure your Google Sheet has at least 90% of your top competitors listed. This is crucial because the more comprehensive your list, the better results you’ll get.  

Open your competitors’ YouTube channels in separate Chrome tabs. Use the "Sort by: Most Popular" filter on their video pages. This will show you the videos that have performed the best over their lifetime. Repeat this process for each channel.  

Look at the titles and keywords of their top-performing videos. Write down these topics in your Google Sheet in a separate column. (Pro tip: Don’t write the same keyword multiple times; instead, note how many times it appears across different channels.)  

Once you’ve gathered the data, look for patterns. Focus on keywords or topics that appear consistently across multiple channels and have more than 500K or even millions of views. These are your golden topics!  

Pay extra attention to videos with massive views that were uploaded just a few months ago. These are more likely to still be trending, making them great opportunities for your channel.
